AS-MO-62709 - NOC Administrator |
| Primary Skills: |
NOC administration , primarily working on Linux and Sun hardware. Need experience with Linux Clusters and High Availability experience |
| Description: |
Must have recent UNIX skills.Experience must be consistent and recentThey need to have the skills to do more than escalate. Need to have supported a company that lives or dies by web presence.Enterprise customers with stronger SLAs.Mission-critical paying enterprise customers, and enough basic UNIX to troubleshoot 95% first touch. Creative, problem-solving skills with 95% first-touch (or more)resolution is critical.
Contractor will be sitting in a NOC, will have several monitoring tools (NMS-Nagios and Cacti) in front of them. When an alert is spawned, they'll need to validate and figure out if it's a partner problem, or our problem. If it's ours, they'll triage on the UNIX machines based on training provided by Moto. They'll have to gauge the severity of the alert and have to understand the relationship between what's broken and what resources are necessary to engage to get this fixed. We're looking for 95% resolution on first touch. If you're supporting a user base, and you miss a 15 minute SLA for fixing, then Moto's on the hook to pay user bases back in what could be million-plus dollar penalties. This is what we mean by mission-critical.
The contractor will have to be an excellent communicator, with experience relating issues to teammates and engineers, to appropriately engage the support by conveying the problem to get these issues solved efficiently.
Adherence to process and procedures is critical, as Moto will be providing guidance for issue resolution, and will be training the contractors on these topics.
Experience supporting NOCs with million-plus user bases is essential for success. Will not consider a contractor who has not been primary/first-level operations support for a large NOC.
Experience Level - 4 - 6 Years Supports, monitors, tests, and troubleshoots hardware and software problems pertaining to LAN. May supervise other network support and client server specialists and plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures.
